Undergraduate Certificate Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ultrasound)
Do you want to work with patients at the most critical moments in their medical journey? From providing a pregnant woman with sonograms, to helping doctors diagnose the condition behind a patient’s pain — diagnostic medical sonography utilizes ultrasound technology to create images of the body’s internal structures. The Diagnostic Medical Sonography certificate program gives you a foundation in ultrasound technology and trains you in the methods and techniques of scanning needed as a professional sonographer.
Coursework includes anatomy and physiology, common pathology, ultrasound equipment, and scanning procedures. Competencies are reinforced during clinical hours at local medical facilities.
Employment Opportunities: Diagnostic Medical Sonographers work in physicians’ offices, clinics, hospitals, and laboratories.
Applicants must have prior certification in a radiologic discipline and/or unencumbered licensure as a radiographer.
