As a PhD researcher, you’ll be joining a community of world-leading researchers who are pushing the boundaries of literary and linguistic study. We have experts specialising in literature, language, linguistics, theatre, film and creative writing. We also have the largest group of researchers in the UK working on the intersection of language and literature. The interdisciplinary nature of the School of English provides unique opportunities for cross-departmental and collaborative research. We are currently ranked the number 1 English department in the UK for research environment (UK Research Excellence Framework 2014).
