COURSE OVERVIEWDesigned to address the government’s ambition of filling the current digital skills gap, this course will provide you with the specialist IT skills set required to succeed in industry. You will learn to deal with complex IT issues systematically and creatively, enhancing your ability to evaluate and apply advanced theories and techniques to a range of situations.We recognise that you will have your own personal career aspirations, and this course will provide you with the flexibility to tailor your learning. You can study MSc Information & Technology by individual programme of study (IPOS), or by choosing one of three pathways.MSc Information & Technology IPOSCustomise your course by selecting from a wide range of option modules. Depending on the modules you choose, you can direct the course towards your own interests or develop specific skills demanded by your current employer. You will select four option modules from the extensive list detailed below.Alternatively, you can follow a specific pathway, studying specific modules to meet the requirements of your chosen pathway:MSc Information & Technology (Software Engineering)On this pathway, you will study course-specific core modules (Advanced Software Engineering and Software Engineering for Service Computing), four shared core modules, and select two option modules from the list below.MSc Information & Technology (Network Systems)On this pathway, you will study course-specific core modules (Network Management and Network & Convergence Architectures), four shared core modules, and select two option modules from the list below.MSc Information & Technology (Information Technology Management)On this pathway, you will study course-specific core modules (Managing Data in the Digital & Global Environment and Database Systems), four shared core modules, and select two option modules from the list below.Across all pathways, our industry contacts and research expertise will ensure your course content will be current and highly relevant to the sector. You will be encouraged to engage with our external partners for your dissertation in order to refine your knowledge and enhance your professional networks.TEACHING & LEARNINGIndependent study is a crucial part of learning at university and you will be required to undertake many hours of self-directed research and reading, and preparation and writing of assessments. Your course is delivered through a number of modules, which will help you to plan your time and establish a study routine. Outside of your lectures, workshops and tutorials, a range of support is available to assist with your independent study. Our subject-specific librarians will be on hand to direct you to the specialist learning and study-skill resources.
