MComp (Hons) Computer Science

Computer science at Sheffield is a rare blend of advanced science, business experience and creativity. This is the only computer science department in the UK with its own student-run software company – Genesys Solutions. Teaching staff are experts in iPhone, Android and VR technology. Guest lecturers come from IBM, Microsoft and HP.You will get the chance to work for Genesys as part of your course. You also have the option of upgrading to an MComp with a year industry. We have a dedicated member of staff who will help you find a placement. Our graduates are problem solvers. They can program. They work well in teams. And they understand the theoretical principles. They are consultants and software engineers with companies including Accenture, Amazon, Deutsche Bank, Google, HSBC, IBM, Microsoft and Reuters.
