Set in 600 acres of countryside in North Staffordshire, we have one of the largest and most beautiful campuses in Britain. We’re proud to be No.2 in England for Student Satisfaction with Course (Guardian University League Table, 2020), investing more than £140m in our campus in the last ten years, including £45m new science laboratories. In 2021 we were proud to be awarded Sustainability Institution of the Year at the prestigious Green Gown Awards as part of our mission to become a carbon neutral campus by 2030. We’re committed to supporting you to achieve your career goals, and have a dedicated Careers and Employability team who can assist you to navigate your options beyond Keele.Explore the complex chemical and biological processes involved in the design and manufacture of drugs and other therapies for treating disease and use maths to develop precise, logical arguments, construct rigorous proofs, and formulate solutions to new problems. For the Medicinal Chemistry element of the course, you’ll develop a deep understanding of the complex chemical and biological processes involved in the design and manufacture of drugs and other therapies for treating disease. This course prepares you to help solve problems at the intersection of chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology and pharmacology. The goal of medicinal chemistry is to support the search for new drugs to treat conditions such as heart disease and cancer. You’ll work in well-equipped laboratories, and learn to conduct effective independent research. You’ll develop valuable skills for employment, such as problem solving, communication and presentation skills. For the Mathematics element of the course, you will learn to use maths to develop precise and logical arguments, construct rigorous proofs, and formulate solutions to new problems whilst studying in an intellectually stimulating environment.
