BSc (Hons) Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science with a Year in Industry

Computer science at Sheffield is a rare blend of advanced science, business experience and creativity. This is the only computer science department in the UK with its own student-run software company – Genesys Solutions. You will get the chance to work for Genesys as part of your course. Teaching staff are experts in iPhone, Android and VR technology. Guest lecturers come from IBM, Microsoft and HP.Sheffield is a great place to learn about AI because we encourage a deep understanding of biologically inspired algorithms, their relationship to biological intelligence and the nature of consciousness itself. The BSc is a good choice if you want a shorter course – it gives you extensive work experience and a solid degree in just four years. The department has a dedicated member of staff who will help you arrange your work placement. During the placement year, you will be paid a salary as you put your knowledge to practical use and improve your career prospects. Our graduates are consultants and software engineers with companies including Accenture, Amazon, Deutsche Bank, Google, HSBC, IBM, Microsoft, Snapchat and Reuters.
