BEng (Hons) Civil and Infrastructure Engineering (with Foundation Year)
This degree is accredited for 2018 entry by the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM), which includes the Institution of Civil Engineers, and helps you progress to become a chartered engineer. The course has an ethos of ‘learning through doing’ to ensure you develop the practical skills to succeed in your career. The course puts a focus on practical work in our specialist laboratories – which include concrete, hydraulics, materials, soils, and structures labs – as well as on-site visits and residential field trips examining real-life scenarios. On this course, you will gain a good mix of theoretical, practical, academic, management and industrial-based skills. Coursework is designed to be achieved within the set amount of learning hours for each module and is appropriate to the level of study. We encourage a professional work ethic, which includes how to manage your time. A range of additional support is available to students who require it via the Academic Support Centre and personal tutors. With proven technical and communication skills, graduates are sought after in a wide variety of employment areas. Most graduates achieve permanent positions in the construction industry, both in civil engineering and construction, or further their education by taking MSc courses.
